Harley-Davidson-338R-Spied
We've heard before about Harley Davidson's intentions of entering the sub 350cc market before, the company had entered a partnership with Benelli motorcycle’s parent company Zhejiang Qianjiang Motorcycle to foray into the small-displacement segment with their own offering. Leaked image of a presentation that state the timeline of all Benelli motorcycles which coincidentally also included the "HD338" was discovered on the internet.
While Harley-Davidson had revealed a sketch of the HD338 in June last year, the HD338 has now been spotted in flesh. It is reported that the bike will borrow most of its cycle parts from the Benelli 302S but will get different bodywork to give it Harley’s traditional design cues. The HD338 gets a slim tank and simple bodywork with ‘Harley Davidson’ badging on the tank and the rear fender showcasing the ‘338R’ branding. You also get a single piece step-up seat with the grab strap, an arrow-shaped radiator shroud, and thick front forks that add to the design very well.
The HD338 will be powered by a 338cc unit which will generate a power of 43 bhp. This Harley's engine is said to be crafted by combining the crankshaft and bottom end of the 300cc unit of 302S and the pistons and cylinders from the larger unit of 502S. The increase in power is evident due to the 13 percent increase in displacement. The rest of the mechanical bits of the bike such as the frame, wheels, brakes, and suspension, look identical to those on the Benelli 302S.
